Doll and Toy Museum

Doll and toy museum in the Rocca Borromeo di Angera

Welcome to the Doll and Toy Museum, where special lights and sounds create a visiting experience suspended between reality and magic.

The Museum

Located in the medieval castle Rocca Borromeo in Angera, 25 km (15.5 mi) from Borgomanero, the museum was founded in 1988 by Princess Bona Borromeo Arese. It stands out for the quality, variety, and rarity of its collection, making it the largest in Europe in this sector.

The Rocca di Angera Doll Museum exhibits over a thousand dolls made from the 18th century to the present.

The dolls are placed inside real miniature furnished houses and shops. They are made using extremely varied materials such as wood, wax, papier-mâché, porcelain, and fabric.

The museum also hosts a section dedicated to toys from non-European cultures and a collection of 19th-century French and German self-operating toys from the Petit Musée du Costume collection in Tours (France).
